Introducing Our New Procedure Video for the Space Shield Clinical Trial

We are thrilled to announce the release of our new instructional video, providing an in-depth look at the innovative procedure central to the Space Shield clinical trial. 🎥

This video offers a comprehensive walkthrough of the single-stage decompressive hemicraniectomy using our space-expanding shield, designed to enhance outcomes for stroke patients. 🧠✨

You can watch the video on Youtube and in the Home and Trial sections of our website. We believe it will offer valuable insights into our approach and the potential benefits of this technique.

Thank you for your continued support of the Space Shield trial. We look forward to sharing more updates as we progress.

Exciting Progress for the Space Shield Trial!

We are thrilled to share that the Space Shield clinical trial has received conditional approval from the Ethics Committee (KEK)! 🚀 This marks a major milestone in our mission to evaluate a new space-expanding shield in decompressive hemicraniectomy for stroke patients.

Additionally, we have already secured several contracts with our six Swiss partner clinics, paving the way for the next steps:
Initiation visits to prepare site teams for patient recruitment
Finalizing an explanatory video showcasing the innovative surgical method

We are eager to move forward and officially launch the trial soon—stay tuned for more updates!

A Collaborative Effort: Our trial brings together the expertise of multiple centers across Switzerland. In addition to Bern, six other centers are participating: Aarau, Basel, Geneva, Lugano, Lucerne, and St. Gallen. 🤝

About the Space Shield Trial: The Space Shield trial is a randomized-controlled multicenter phase III study that aims to evaluate the effectiveness of a space-expanding shield in decompressive hemicraniectomy (DCE) for stroke. 🧠 Our objective is to analyze clinical and radiological outcomes of a single-stage DCE using a space shield, comparing it to the standard two-stage approach of DCE followed by cranioplasty (CP).

We hypothesize that the single-stage strategy with the space-expanding shield will be non-inferior to the current standard treatment regarding functional outcomes.

Thank you for visiting our website and supporting this groundbreaking initiative! We are excited to share our journey with you.
